Prevalence patterns of GB virus-C/hepatitis G virus (GBV-C/HGV) suggest that the virus is transmitted sexually.
GBV-C/HGV is an RNA virus in the Flaviviridae family, Drs. Valess J. Dreyc and Courtney E. Collingham, of the Public Health Laboratory in Birmingham, UK, write in the March issue of the Journal of Medical Virology. They describe the virus as a distant cousin” of hepatitis C.
