WV Prostate Cancer Initiative

West Virginia’s Prostate Cancer Initiative is operated and directed by the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control for the West Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Program and in conjunction with the Mountains of Hope Cancer Coalition.

In West Virginia, prostate cancer was the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men during 1999-2003. More than 70% of prostate cancer during these years was diagnosed in men age 65 and older. Cancer of the prostate remains the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality and accounts for approximately 1 in 10 cancer deaths (WV Cancer Registry data).

For more information on WV’s Prostate Cancer Initiative, please contact the Project Director at (304) 293-2370.
