I’ve always wanted to have a close relationship with my father, but he’s impossible to connect with. Whenever I call, the first thing he says is, “I’ll put your mother on.” When I visit, he either chats about the weather or clams up. The last time I was home, I confronted him about why we never talk — and he totally shut down. Now our relationship is more strained than ever. Should I just give up? (more…)
